Our Story

Monitoring, reimagined

Toccata began in 2022 with a frustration: monitoring technology was either too complex for non-engineers or too limited for real problems. The tools that existed required deep technical expertise just to get a sensor online, let alone in a remote location with unreliable connectivity.

We set out to build something different. Technology that's intuitive and just works, where a non-engineer who needs an engineering-level solution can select a sensor and start monitoring without touching a line of code, even in extremely remote locations.

Today, we build across the full stack: hardware, embedded software, cloud platforms, and connectivity. That's what it takes to make monitoring truly seamless. We also partner with enterprises and organizations on consulting and custom development in our areas of expertise.

Our team brings deep experience in large-scale data systems, including infrastructure that powered national COVID-19 response efforts. We also contribute to the broader open-source community, including privacy-preserving tools for clinical research.

Mission

Built for operators, not engineers

If you need to monitor something, you shouldn't need a software team to do it. We build technology so intuitive that anyone can deploy and manage monitoring infrastructure. No code, no complexity, no compromise.

Approach

The full stack, on purpose

We control hardware, firmware, connectivity, and cloud because that's the only way to make monitoring feel effortless. When you own every layer, you can solve the hard problems, like reliable data from a satellite-connected sensor in the Arctic, without passing the complexity to the user.
